Samsung releases Galaxy J3 Emerge in the US through Boost Mobile

It’s not a major release so there was no hoopla from Samsung regarding the official announcement of a new smartphone. The OEM quietly listed the Galaxy J3 Emerge on their US website and that it will be available through prepaid carrier Boost Mobile. This new device is supposedly a tweaked version of the Galaxy J3 (2017) for the US market, although the latter, which will be available in the international market, is actually still not officially announced.

It’s official: People are dreadful at picking passwords.

The world's most popular password is depressingly easy to guess

The world’s most popular password is the depressingly easy-to-guess 123456, according to a massive analysis of 10 million leaked passwords.

Throughout 2016, we saw numerous major data breaches leaking people’s login details online. Some were new — like the hack of adult dating site AdultFriendFinder — while others, like LinkedIn, were years-old, but the data only recently surfaced online.

In both cases, these breaches have provided researchers with an unparalleled look at the security habits of millions of people — and it’s not pretty.

‘Blackberry Mercury’, Other Blackberry Products, To Be Released At MWC 2017

BlackBerry kicked its own BlackBerry Operating System to the curb last year in favor of the more popular Android OS, and no longer manufactures its own phones, but that doesn’t mean they’re dead.

"Blackberry Mercury" had long been discussed by tech experts after it got leaked late last year. It added excitement to the rejuvenated Blackberry crew wishing to return to the top of the Smartphone industry. Last week at CES 2017, a glimpse of the latest phone from Blackberry was revealed by TCL. But now, more and more information have been announced by TCL Communication Technology Holdings (TCT) and here are some of the things to know about the new Blackberry handset.

Rather, BlackBerry has partnered with TCL to release Android phones under the BlackBerry brand name. The latest device, revealed behind closed doors at CES 2017, doesn’t have a name yet, so we’ll rely on its internet codename — which BlackBerry suggested — as “Mercury.”

HTC U Ultra drops the headphone jack and picks up a secondary display

HTC is getting smarter – well, its phones are. The HTC U Ultra, which alongside the HTC U Play is another new line of handsets to wrap your head around, is a phablet that’s packing in some high-end specs and an all-new AI companion… and for something below a flagship price.

Meet HTC U Ultra, the big 5.7” phone that reflects the best U with a new beautifully contoured, symmetrical, liquid surface. Hold it up and you’ll see that the phone transforms light as you turn it – adding brilliance and depth from every angle. It’s the result of a new process where colors bond to the glass in multiple layers; while the glass itself is carefully moulded, bent, and folded to mimic the natural surface tension of liquid.

HTC U Ultra

The HTC U Ultra has a 5.7-inch 1440p LCD display, but right above the display is yet another feature borrowed from the competition: The U Ultra has a secondary ticker display just like the LG V20. This may actually be the most blatant example of copying in the U Ultra. The secondary display has a resolution of 160×1040, exactly the same as the V20. It’s also shifted off to the right with the front-facing camera on the left. This strip shows notification text, shortcuts, and some basic stats while the main screen is asleep.

The U Ultra is now available for pre-order from htc.com for $750, in an unlocked version that will work with the LTE networks of AT&T and T-Mobile. It will ship in early March.
